The innovative design of air caps for improving the thermal efficiency of CFB boilers

Air caps are an effective way of ensuring uniformity air flow in Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boilers. Published literature on the design and configuration these is severely limited. In this study, extensive theoretical as well experimental investigations have been carried out to novel order improve efficiency CFB A small-scale test bench 220 t/h boiler has developed, integrated with caps. It observed that inhomogeneity velocity decreases from 65.79% 21.25%, while pressure drop by 20%. mathematic model derived its accuracy verified through cold tests. Two empirical correlations for calculating jet penetration length obtained verified. Finally, validate innovative caps, methodology implemented a full-scale boiler. The hot results depict thermal increased 86.4% 91.8% when tested in-place, which equivalent saving 6000 tons coal per year.
